I Hate December Break

If I ever need to be reminded that doing nothing of purpose is depressing and boring, December break will always be there to remind me. It's the same every year: after a long four month grind of school, work, late nights of homework, buying people Christmas presents and then realizing I have no money, and college applications, my risk of having a heart attack is at an all time-high every December. I enjoy a few slothful days with my family and friends laying around while I sleep, watch TV, play video games and clog my arteries with hot dogs and mac and cheese. After a few blissful days of this vegetative and parent-disappointing lifestyle, my lethargic tendencies catch up with me, and I begin to long for a stack of homework or to be at work cleaning some kid's piss off the floor. Needless to say I am excited to be back in the saddle riding the horse of responsibility and purpose. Giddyup!

  1. I feel you on this post, but this year I was busy with college applications right up until the 31st, so my vacation didn't really start until New Years Eve, at which point I only had a few days of doing absolutely nothing before school started back up again.

I definitely have felt the feeling you are describing before, though. What bugs me the most is vacation always gets so hyped-up, just to fall flat on its face as people go away on vacation and nothing interesting actually happens.

  2. I am also happy to be back. Free time is nice for a couple of days, but then you start to feel guilty that you aren't getting anything done. It doesn't quite feel right.

  3. Yeah, the ponds weren't frozen so there was really no point to break this year. I couldn't rip burnouts or clappers which was pretty rough.

  4. I actually agree wholeheartedly. Although its nice to have a break, it gets boring not having any structure at all to my day, and it was nice to get back into some sort of structure, even if a week in I'm already super stressed.

  5. My break was very different from your's, yet suprisingly, I felt similar towards the end of the week. I skied almost everyday of vacation; and while I kept extremely busy, and quite honestly got exhausted from skiing, I was ready to go back to school by the end of the week.
